How to care for your violin
Why is it important?
Taking care of your violin doesn’t take much effort but ensures that the instrument sounds its best and makes the playing experience more enjoyable.
Cleaning
In order to avoid rosin and dust build up on the violin, the instrument should be wiped down with a dry soft microfiber cloth after each playing session.
Carefully wipe down the face of the violin, the individual strings and the back of the bow (not the horse hair).
Avoid using any cleaners that are not specifically designed for violins.
Storage and Transport
The violin is a delicate instrument and should be stored in its case when not in use. Doing so prevents it from accidentally falling or getting stepped on.
The violin should not be exposed to very cold or hot temperatures. It should not be in areas of high humidity either. Avoid placing it near an active A/C or heater vent. And it should never be left in the car for extended period of time.
